NEW YORK CIVIL PRACTICE LAW AND RULES (CPLR) New York State | For Informational Purposes Only CPLR § 1401 Claim for contribution § 1401. Claim for contribution. Except as provided in sections 15-108and 18-201 of the general obligations law, sections eleven andtwenty-nine of the workers' compensation law, or the workers'compensation law of any other state or the federal government, two ormore persons who are subject to liability for damages for the samepersonal injury, injury to property or wrongful death, may claimcontribution among them whether or not an action has been brought or ajudgment has been rendered against the person from whom contribution issought.
