NEW YORK CIVIL PRACTICE LAW AND RULES (CPLR) New York State | For Informational Purposes Only CPLR § 9801 Actions against the village. 1 § 9801. Actions against the village. 1. No action shall be maintainedagainst the village for a personal injury or injury to property allegedto have been sustained by reason of the negligence or wrongful act ofthe village or of any officer, agent or employee thereof, unless anotice of claim shall have been made and served in compliance withsection fifty-e of the general municipal law.2. Every such action shall be commenced pursuant to the provisions ofsection fifty-i of the general municipal law.
