NEW YORK DOMESTIC RELATIONS LAW (Chapter 14) § 247 — Alimony or maintenance payments suspended during c DRL § 247 Alimony or maintenance payments suspended during confinement inprison ARTICLE 13 Provisions Applicable to More Than One Type of Matrimonial Action § 247. Alimony or maintenance payments suspended during confinement inprison. Notwithstanding any inconsistent provision of this article, theprovision of any judgment or order rendered or made in an action fordivorce, separation, annulment or declaration of nullity of a voidmarriage, requiring the payment of moneys by one spouse for the supportof the other shall be suspended and inoperative so far as punishment forcontempt is concerned during the period in which the defaulting spouseshall be imprisoned pursuant to any order adjudging him or her incontempt for failure to comply with any provision in such order.
