NEW YORK DOMESTIC RELATIONS LAW (Chapter 14) § 231 — Residence of married persons DRL § 231 Residence of married persons ARTICLE 13 Provisions Applicable to More Than One Type of Matrimonial Action § 231. Residence of married persons. If a married person dwells withinthe state when he or she commences an action against his or her spousefor divorce, annulment or separation, such person is deemed a residentthereof, although his or her spouse resides elsewhere.
