TEXAS RULES OF CIVIL PROCEDURE (March 1, 2026) Rule 137 — IN ASSAULT AND BATTERY, ETC PART II - RULES OF PRACTICE IN DISTRICT AND COUNTY COURTS Rule 137: IN ASSAULT AND BATTERY, ETC In civil actions for assault and battery, slander and defamation of character, if the verdict or judgment shall be for the plaintiff, but for less than twenty dollars, the plaintiff shall not recover his costs, but each party shall be taxed with the costs incurred by him in such suit.
